If you haven't shared your web site with the rest of us send it to me and I guarantee it will be in the next newsletter. Wouldn't you like 3500 of your peers to see what you're up to? C'mon - next month is your turn.
My new policy: anyone who has taken 3 or more of my workshops will get a 5% discount on any future workshop. Anyone having taken 6 or more (and there are a bunch of you) will get a discount of 10% on any future workshop.
The first five websites are from folks who attended the Kim English Paris workshop with me in September.. and a great group of people I must say. Things worked out so well that Kim and I decided to put together a trip to Bordeaux next September.
Grand Junction, Colorado artist Beverly Lee paints just about everything under the sun - and does it well. She also has a book out on painting children.
No workshop would be complete with the dynamic presence of California expressionist painter Beth Cody. Her paintings can be seen here.
Chicago Mike Pawlowski has been on a number of my workshops. He specializes in some gorgeous trompe l'oeil and mural commissions.
Sculptor and painter Nura Mascarenas just happens to be the wife of Kim English. Take a look at her powerful and sensual work.
Meeker, Colorado artist (and good buddy of Beverly Lee) Pat Sheeran Daggett paints with color and... lots of paint.
New York City artist Sarah
Bisceglie paints and creates from her rich imagination.
Von Heinz of Washington state reminded me immediately of Thomas Hart Benton
and that crew. She's coming on my Cuba for Painters trip in January.
You might find New Mexico plein air painter Carla
Forrest outside in all kinds of weather doing what she loves to do.
Henryk Ptasiewicz came to America in 1999 to paint, draw and sculpt. Don't miss his work.
Check out the landscapes and yes, tree paintings of notable Florida plein air painter Linda Blondheim.
Just got back from the Kim English Paris workshop and had an experience with French medicine that reminded me how much I love their system: I needed to see a doctor while there so asked my hotel owner for the name of his doctor. This is how it works - no appointment, walk into the waiting room, no receptionist and then doctor comes to get you... I waited only 30 minutes before he came to get me. Never rushed me out, took time with me to explain things and gave me two prescriptions.. And here's the kicker. He charges 28 Euro!!!!!!!!!!!! That deserves 10 exclamation marks. Can you imagine seeing a doctor in NY or anywhere in the states without an appointment and being charged only 28 euro (about $36)? Yes I know - there are flaws in every system. But this is just refreshing.
Thanks to Nancy for the story about Alexa Meade.. who paints people ON PEOPLE, not on canvas. Oh boy!
My co op gallery in Chelsea is having it's annual Friends of Pleiades show. For you out of town characters this is an opportunity to finally have your paintings seen in NYC in a gorgeous show space. Click here for all the information.
Whatever you do DO NOT miss this cool opportunity to paint in what was once one of the most beautiful cities in the world - Havana, Cuba. True, the facades are faded but as an artist you will be able to see and capture the beauty lurking just beneath the surface.. I'm going to be your leader there and you know how well I take care of people on my trips.
Thanks to my dear sister Myrna for these two articles. What happens to an artist in Iraq who dares to paint the nude? And do you think us painters have enough competition? Think again - here come the horses! Don't miss this video.
Hey, I was born in Queens, New York but it never occurred to me to do something as nasty as this,
This is just pure entertainment: an artist, Dito Von Tease making fingers into famous people.
Next up after Cuba? Painting in the perfect French village - Beaune, Burgundy. Not too large and not too small. The perfect size. The landscape outside Beaune boasts mountains, water, tiny villages, everything the plein air painter longs for. I already know that one of our days I will organize a bike ride through some famous and not so famous vineyards, then stop at a fantastic wine chateau for lunch and a bottle of the greatest wine in the world (in my humble opinion). And you won't have to bring your own bikes. We rent them there.
